When You’re Feeling Down

We’ve all been through those times…

2016-04-03 19.05.38You know… You’re feeling down, blue and even defeated. It seems like you are all alone. No one cares. Everyone flees. The height above you is the bottom of the gutter you have fallen into.

But the sayings we hear from all those motivational people are correct…

  • Never let a stumble in the road be the end of the journey.
  • Falling down is part of life. Getting back up is living.
  • What defines us is how well we rise after falling.
  • Never quit. If you stumble, get back up. What happened yesterday no longer matters. Today’s another day so get back on track and move closer to your dreams and goals.
  • Fall seven times, stand up eight.
  • You can do it!

Every one needs something to keep them getting back up… Just like Churchill’s speech (not the one that supposedly happens at a university) that he gives before our day of infamy.

“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.” (Winston Churchill, 10/29/41)

I believe if we keep ourselves focusing on those words of hope and help, we will teach ourselves to live an overcoming life. So, I flood my reading and studying those voices of experience that speak to me. I read scripture. I listen to positive words and surround myself with positive people. I work hard on being the positive voice even when it seems like hope is lost.

Here’s a sample!

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:11-12 NKJV)

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:3 NKJV)

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. (Matthew 11:12 NKJV)

A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle— (Psalms 144:1 NKJV)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.  (Ephesians 6:10-20 NKJV)

Finally… Be brave. Get up. Fight!
