This is a huge topic these days.
Of course, it may have been all along, every year since we started choosing leaders to represent us in various office. From Judges, to the Legislature, and even the Executive level. Small towns, counties, states, regions and nations.
In a corporate world, CEO’s are voted on by their own internal board, but the stakeholders vote with the power of their dollars when they do not agree with the policies. Eventually, poor choices causes the stock to slip and customers to vote with their feet and the almighty dollar.
In local elections I look for certain signs posted in certain businesses and note to never spend another dollar at a place that promote certain people! That’s how I vote! With my vote and my money.
Still, when the dust settles and the winner takes the throne, many still struggle with the results. You never truly win unless you have the vote and confidence by all the people. In our segregated parties, that will never happen. Again, still, one side feels victorious as their challenger swaggers about like a drunken sailor with the power they feel they have won by their minions vote.
Time will tell the final story of the success of every vote. Trillions of dollars in debt. How will we ever pay it off? By more spending programs? There is not one frugal law on the books. Everything is about digging us deeper under the overwhelming weight of death. We will never tax ourselves out of the problems, because we do not have enough money to pay back the loans we already owe.
Okay. Talk yourselves down from the ledge. Take a deep breath. There are only two things to do. Vote. Pray. But maybe you should reverse the order!
The writer of Hebrews makes special note of those who rule over us.
- Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. (Hebrews 13:7 NKJV)
- Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. (Hebrews 13:17 NKJV)
- Greet all those who rule over you, and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. (Hebrews 13:24 NKJV)
Remember. Obey. Greet. The writer is especially talking about those who are watchful over our souls. They answer to a really big God for a valuable cargo. You. You are most precious to God. Take special care you regard those who are over you in authority. It’s a two way street!
