2:40 a.m.

We All Have Them

2015-12-14 02.40.57You know, times when sleep escapes us. It seldom happens, but when it does every second is counted like the proverbial sheep jumping over the fence.

So, the time is 2:40  a.m… And sleep escaped. I’m not sure why, but at times like this it is generally because there are too many irons in the fire, and either one has cooled off, gotten too hot, or has gone missing.

Words from a gone by era sung by Bing Crosby (born in Spokane, WA)…

We’re poor little lambs who have lost our way
Baa, baa, baa
We’re little black sheep who have gone astray
Baa, baa, baa

I hear his crooning voice and these slip of words make me want to get back to sleep!

Why does sleep allude us? There must be a scientific study about this. When it happens, I generally turn to some work that needs to be done and busy my mind until it gets too tired to make sense of the keyboard. Then, to the couch and the hope that sleep comes calling.

This morning, my mind is full, some things stressful, and others that are being squeezed into impossible schedules, and yet others that are needing to be put on the back burner. It’s time to reload the schedule and address some things differently.

This is often a good time to contemplate ….

However, to be the most productive… I need some rest. I love the way David says it:

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.  (Psalms 4:8 KJV)

Peace. Sleep. Safety… Night all! (3:26 a.m….)
